Well, now that the first week of English has come to its end, I have come to the conclusion that it will no longer be necessary for me to attend class. (false.) I am also already anxious to finish this course. That last sentence may have also been false, but nevertheless I believe that this course will be very enlightening. (Enlightening in a literary fashion, and not to be confused with the historical time period; Religion out, Science in!).
At first, I was very worried about this class because I thought that I might not be adequately prepared to keep up, given that I am only in grade ten. Another reason I feel so anxious with regards to this class has a lot to do with comments about the difficulties of Mr. Murray’s classes. Contrary to my dismay, after completing the first week of class, it appears to me that Mr. Murray is one cool cat- and he sure knows how to cook up a mean lecture; these two things being a killer combination.
Even though we have only been in class for a very short period of time, I have still learned a few things from it. In the first week we learned how to work more efficiently while reducing the amount of time we spend actually doing work. This seems like something only Mr. Murray would teach us, given that other teachers seem to be implying we should do the opposite. From an academic standpoint, the latter seems ridiculous, if you can do as good a job, in less time.
All in all, I am very excited to have made it through the first week and look forward to many more interesting ones to come.
